Use of IPEDS and LINEAGE
CD

The issues over iPeds and the
Lineage CD are politically motivated but maybe some good will arise
since it is getting the attention of the membership.
We as members of the TWHBEA are the owners. I am a life time member. I
just paid $100 for the Lineage Software Update with no more useful
options than last year at $50.00 and now without the addresses of
owners.
I wanted to be a Director in
hopes I might make a difference. My personal agenda is to complete the
updated Color Brochure and provide Color Genetics Information to the
TWHBEA members. I submitted an article in May on "Color Genetics
Simplified" to the Voice. I was told it needed to be reviewed and the
Board needed to make a decision on publishing it. It hasn't been
published and so I called the Voice and asked the editor about it. He
is new and said he had never seen the article but would look for it
and get back to me. I believe my article will offer some very basic
color genetic information that some of the TWHBEA Leadership wants to
bury.
I am finding that the privilege
of being a Director comes with a big price. I am a small breeder and
do not have unlimited capital to spend twice a year. The full cost of
attending these semi-annual Directors meetings (Airline ticket, Rental
Car, Hotel and parking my car at the airport) is never less than
$500.00. I spent $200.00 out of my pocket to print the draft color
brochure and then the Chairman of the Breeder's Committee didn't have
the promised meeting to present it to the committee to discuss it and
the other changes needed to finish it up.
I am working diligently on it and
putting it in final form but fear that the color genetics facts are a
threat to the TWHBEA since the correct color identification of TWHs
registered has a horrific error rate. Double dilutes have a 40% error
rate for the 600 horses registered as cremello & perlino. I have been
researching those colors for 10 years and 40% according to their
pedigrees can't be a double dilute. That is just the tip of the
iceberg and was easy to gather data but the errors apply in the solid
colors as well.
If we want control of our
Registry to return to the members who are the stockholders and owners
we need to elect directors who support those rights and not just
discard the ballot and let the directors win by default. I ran
unapposed but wrote a letter to each of the Kansas members asking for
their vote and 50% of them took the time to return their ballot when
they knew I would win anyway.
I plan to publish an expanded version over my name and make it
available to the TWH community.
I am a member of the Arabian
Horse Assn, Morgan Horse Assn, American Saddlebred Assn, American
Quarter Horse Assn, American Paint Horse Assn and International
Champagne Horse Assn. I have access to the Pedigree Programs of all of
these. The Arabian Horse Pedigree allows searches by name, owner or
state. All the information on ownership is there. I receive membership
directorys for the Arabian Horse, Morgan Horse and Saddlebred Horse
Assn.
I am only one person but it is
time
